Any problems converting from FAT to NTFS ??
has anybody had a problem when or after converting his hard drive prtition from FAT to NTFS under windows ?? any files damged or lost ?

I have done it several times with no issues.
However, I recommend you consider why you are doing the conversion, as it will actually slow down your access times. The only reason for the conversion that I can see is the additional file security of NTFS.

No, unless...
1. There were errors on FAT.
2. The conversion utility works less than "fine".
You probably used the MS utility. That, however, deletes all files on drive ... :((

No. your files won,t get lost. it's just that fat32 was the old system and ntfs is suppose to be more stable. per Microsoft.

To changeover from a fat 32 to an NTSF filesystem, you have to reformat your hard drive. When you reformat a hard drive you a erase everything, and change the file structures. In other words, you're going to lose everything!

Not if you do it the right way. I recently did it to 3 of my PC's and they all work fine.
