Post-Pregnancy Drink Suggestion?

I am just about to have my baby and I am wanting to celebrate with *finally* being able to have a drink again! Any suggestions on what I should have?

Some people are so lame. Have a drink. You just carried a baby around for nine months, and now it's going to be attached to your boob for who knows how long. I agree you probably shouldn't get sloshed, but have some wine or champagne. Wine coolers(twisted tea, mikes hard lemonade) are fine too. If you are gonna have hard stuff only have one!

You don't say how old your son is. It takes awhile to loose your weight after having a baby - at least for some people - others can walk away and look like they've never had a baby. You can try doing exercises that will tighten up the stomach muscles such as sit ups and leg lifts. Go on the net and I'm sure you can look up which exercises would be good to tighten the stomach muscles. I had a C-section with both of my boys so it was a little more difficult to get the stomach back in shape. Of course you probably won't ever be exactly as you were before having a baby unless you are just one of "those" kind of people. A low carbohydrate diet is good for a short period of time but it's not good to stay on for a long time. It consist mainly of meats, cheese, eggs, most anything green, a few fruits in small portions. You can't have any sugar, chocolate, potatoes, breads or fruits high in carbs. Again you can look this up on the net and find out which foods are high in carbs and which ones aren't. There are other diets that are good also and you can get books from the book store to give you some ideas. Usually if you just be careful about what you eat and eat smaller portions your weight will come off. Drink water instead of tea or soft drinks or anything with sugar. Hope this is some help. Be glad you aren't 60, 5' 21/2" and weight between 145-160. I've always been able to keep my weight down to around 110-120 depending on whatever but started gaining weight last Dec. and I haven't been able to get it off no matter what I do. I can't exercise like I used to and I don't eat that much especially sweets anymore so can't figure out what's going on. I gained 10 lbs in a week and that's not normal. I do have to take Lasix (a water pill) because I retain fluid and my weight will go down but other than that even not eating doesn't take it off. My sister always said that grannys are supposed to be soft and smushy so guess I finally got soft and smushy - LOL. Good luck - hope something I've said is of some help.

I have a week left before my baby. I think I would drink vodka. You have a less chance for a hangover. After not drinkin for so long nothin sounds good to me. I could probably drink a beer and be smashed.Have fun enjoy your new baby!!!!

I have heard that the yeast in beer will cause your milk production to rise and that then you will get painfully engorged. I don't know if that is true but it sounded terrible. I always recommend a slushy Margarita anyway!!

nothing is wrong with having a glass of wine with those that are close to you to celebrate your new arrival. If you are breast feeding...be careful though!

Drink your favorite drink, which ever it is.

Otherwise champagne is great for all celebrations.
