new year's eve in amsterdam?

anyone know how is in amsterdam for new years eve?do you know some nice but kinna cheap hotels?are people celebrating in the street?

    it's pretty awesome. All day new year's eve it sounds like a war zone w/ rockets going off EVERYWHERE. when midnight strikes be sure you find yourself at one of the major squares...my fave is Niewe Markt...fireworks mayhem! Everyone is happy and drunk and awesome. Just keep an eye out for bastards who like to throw firecrackers into crowds.
