Why does caffeine have no effect on me?

To begin with, I don't drink coffee or tea regularly. I drink tea like once a week, and coffee like once every few months. However, I can drink two cups of coffee at one go and still fall asleep immediately and have a good night sleep. Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone know why?

Also, I desperately need to stay awake to finish up my work so I'll appreciate any suggestions to help me stay awake. Anything except more coffee/caffeine, since I know it doesn't help.

    Try no-dose. It's manufactured, laboratory made caffeine so it is slightly different than the caffeine found in coffee. I find it makes me a bit nervous but it works to keep me up! Also, try drinking french roast or dark blend varieties, such as Starbucks french roast because it has much MORE caffeine. If you can't stand the taste, either make the coffee with vanilla flavored soda pop or put coffee mate in.

    If that fails, do you have any idea how easy it is to get Ritalin or Adderall from your family physician or campus physician if you are a student? Just tell them you've had a prescription before and tell THEM how much (10mgs, 2x day, ex). I did these all while I was attending school. I can fall asleep right after taking Ritalin, but Adderall will keep you up for days if you need to. They used to give Adderall's mixed amphetamin salts to pilots in the military to keep them up for long hours. If you seriously need to stay awake, just ask your doctor for Adderall. Tell them you've taken it before with a prescription. It's good stuff, man. I mainly had used it to study with. I prefer Ritalin but Adderall keeps you up better.

    Usually I am not effected by caffeine either. I wouldn't consider it a problem though because every drink I like has caffeine in it and with the amount I drink I would never be able to fall asleep. It probably doesn't effect you at night because your body is too tired and just wants rest. I don't really know what you can do to stay awake longer. Are you doing your homework in a well lit area? If you are doing it in the dark, that could make you tired. You could also try splashing cold water on your face, that always wakes me up.

    usually one cup of coffee makes me relax but 2 or more at bed time, it means no sleep before midnight.

    what u have to do i think : take a nap in the afternoon, so u can stay awake at night.
