An Eye Opener - Nursery Rhymes Origin?

Did you know that 'Humpty Dumpty' was the name of a large cannon that was used in the English Civil War (1642 – 1649)?

How about 'Jack and Jill'? Did you know that it’s about King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette’s beheading?

I often wondered why nursery rhymes were so tragic. So, I looked them up and found this site http://www.rhymes.org.uk/index.htm. I must say that I learned a lot. Very interesting!
