This is a link to a story regarding world condemnation of Israel for killing yet more civilians.
My question: how is it that the U.S. can continue to defend Israel carte blanche in killing civilians when Israel is going after militants but when Islamic states kill civilians to defend itself they're terrorists?
Sounds like a double standard to me. Human rights are human rights, Jew or Muslim. Agreed?
If one of your arguments that the Jews had Israel first and the Muslims moved in later, then that would mean white, Hispanic and black Americans need to move back to whereever they came from because Native Americans were here first.
Also if the Israelis continually (as they have) "accidentially" kill civilians and they keep "accidentially" killing civilians (Palestinian, Lebanese) without changing military tactics, it just then shows there is no accident about the policy. They mean to kill civilians or at the least don't care when civilians get in the way.

Indeed, that is how it should be. All humans of all races should have equal rights.
But there is a fundamental problem with humans. Humans have a capacity for belief. Having beliefs can be a good thing, but more often than not beliefs lead to terrible things.
Once someone has a belief, whether or not that belief is true or not becomes irrelevant. The belief becomes "right".
Which leads us back to the original question. It's a matter of beliefs. It is a war of beliefs. There are some who believe that they are entitled to that land. More believe it is the "holy land". A lot of other people believe it was wrongfully taken from them.
But because of their beliefs, they believe that the ends justify the means. They are "right" so anything they do in the name of that belief is also "right".
But this is nothing new. It's been happening for millenia. Hitler did it, the Romans did it, etc. . It really is quite astonishing what acts people will perform if they believe what they're doing is "right".
So how can the US defend Israel? Because a majority of individuals believe what they are doing is "right". Why do "terrorists" do what they do? Because they believe what they're doing is right.
But who is right? From a logical "preserving and bettering the species" standpoint, both sides are dead wrong. Yet how often does logic come into play in situations like this. People's emotions are so much easier to bring to the surface than their logical reasoning. Especially if you cast it in the context of disparaging a perons's beliefs (see religious fervor).
In fact, all major conflicts in the past have invoked religion in one form or another as a tool for propaganda. Critical thinking is not encouraged, as it would cast doubt on whether the selected course of action is indeed the right thing to do. It happened in ancient Egypt, and it still happens today.

It is a double standard but the opposite of what you are saying. Why should Israel be condemned for defending it's citizens? No other country is. Muslims TARGET civilians. They do this in an attempt to terrorize. This has nothing to do with self defense. If civilians choose to be in combat zones as human Shields, there shouldn't be any condemnation when they die as a result.
The Israeli army makes a greater than any other (including ours) to minimize civilian casualties, even among human Shields, & even at the cost of Israeli lives, both soldiers & civilians.
Also, the US doesn't & never has given Israel carte blanche. We have pressured Israel to make numerous concessions to those whose only agenda is the destruction of Israel.

With all respect, I don't think you know what you're talking about. Palestinians are the ones that routinely and intentionally target civilians. If the Palestinians disarmed and stopped attacking Israel, there would be peace between the two peoples. If Israel disarmed and stopped attacking, the palestinians along with other Islamic countries would destroy Israel killing as many Jews as possible. I am convinced that is true. I guess you disagree.
The US doesn't give Israel carte blanche in killing civilians. That statement is simply false and I think/hope you know that.

Israeli's who kill innocent citizens should be prosecuted. But the shoe fits the other side too. Hamas and the Palestinians along with the Syrians and Iranians should also be prosecuted for killing innocent civilians. When Israel goes oops we screwed up and killed innocent civilians there should be a price to pay and it goes the other way too. The problem is who would have jurisdiction over the area? We know the U.N. is incapable of doing anything of any value. The U.S. must continue to defend Israel especially when you have the Iranians saying Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth and saying the Holocaust never happened. No easy solution, yet one must be found.

have u noticed that it is the palestinians who camoflauge themselves as civilians and hide behind them? this is israel's land, and they did give some of it up to palestine, inreturn, they kidnapped a couple of israeli soldiers. Israel tries for peace much more than the palestinians, but when they get mad, they go all out. sometimes this is too much, but can u really blame them. the world goes harder on israel because it is actually a nation, which makes sense. though what israel is doing is not the same as terrorists. they r not targeting civilians like the palestinians do a lot, but never-the-less, many civilians get caught in the crossfire.

Jess H - (see further up) - is just plain WRONG...! Israel did not belong to the Jews first...! The land first belonged to Caananites and Phillistines (remember, from the BIble...?) then Phoenecians (Palestinians) gradually took over the coastal regions - at much the same time as the Pharisees (Jews) took over the inland hills.
(So I suppose you could say that the Jews took the high ground - but it sure ain't the "MORAL" high ground until they grant equal rights to the Palestinians...!)

you will desire to additionally make acquaintances with some Palestinians (Muslims or Christians does not rely), specifically with people who've been suffering for the final 70 years earlier coming to this end. The land initially belonged to Turkey till WW a million, became taken over by utilising Britain after the so-called stop fire brokered by utilising the then US President Woodrow Wilson. plenty later, while the UNO became formed it gave a mandate to Britain to ask the will of the persons residing in the section and grace a central authority. In connivance with the Jews of Europe, Britain approved them to forcibly eject the persons and settle ecu Jews, a technique that maintains immediately. This became their way of compensating them for the atrocities they confronted in the palms of Hitler. Arabs or Turks never uprooted the Jews nor harmed them yet are identifying to purchase it till immediately. If in any respect Israel had to created, it relatively is going to have been created in Germany. There are no remote places powers interior Palestine or Israel. the two countries can co-exist if there are peace loving liberal governments in the two who admire one yet another's suitable to stay and very own their lands.

The idea that "The zionists controls the U.S government" is nothing but an dumb anti-semitic lie. Deliberately used to insinuate hatred towards Israel/Jews.
Looks as if Israel is not the1starting the trouble there.

The difference is Israel does not target innocent civilians like muslims do

There is a double standard at play here all right; the one you're applying to Israel
