There have only been 42 individuals who served as president of the USA.
President Grover Cleveland is counted twice, because he served 2 non-consecutive terms of office, and is counted as both the 22nd and the 24th President of the USA.
The number of presidents is counted as the number of individuals who have held the office, not the number of terms served.
So President Bush, being the 43rd individual to serve as President of the USA, is referred to as the 43rd President of the USA.
Many individual presidents served more than one term of office, and since 1789, there have been 55 four-year terms of office. (We are currently in the second year of the 55th term of office).
President Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th president of the USA, served as President during the 45th four-year term of Office, from 1965 to 1969. (Presidents are elected in Even numbered years, but take office in odd numbered years).
This should help to clarify any confusing statistics arising from this question.

Our current president is number 43. There are several I can think of who could be president 45 including another clinton (hillary - ugh), giuliani (rudolph) , bayh (evan) , jackson (rev jesse), ventura (jesse "the body"), hogan (hulk), or someone else.
There is also dr phil or rush linbaugh.
Or any living president who has been out at least one term is eligible to run again.
