It really depends on your laptop. Some newer laptops and other computers allow you to boot from a flash USB drive, or you could borrow an external CD drive from a friend. The best way to tell If you can set USB as a boot device, is to check your BIOS options by pressing F1, F8, or delete (sometimes esc) on startup, it will usually display which one to press.

You want to set your primary boot device to USB.

    Hope this helps!

Use an external USB CD rom Drive, these are now getting quite inexpensive. You will probably need this to install other software, and some are small enough to cary with the laptop.

You can also search aftermarket computer sites for a cd/dvd drive that fits your laptop,

Do a network installation through the USB port. That means you connect the laptop to another computer with a CD/DVD drive and perform the installation from the second computer. It's longer than a regular installation, but it's the best choice in this case.

    The short answer, not easily.

Network install is probably your best bet, but that in most cases requires a server set up for network installs.

Your best bet is to get an external CD Rom that is designed for your laptop. Many times any old USB CD Rom will not work to boot from. Check the accessories page of whatever brand your laptop is.

Caution : Windows Home XP SP1 only supports SATA drive up to 120GB. I believe your BIOS is set CDROM enabled only for booting. Do not press F6 while installing. Press F6 is for RAID or SCSI drivers which those harddisk connected to RAID or SCSI PCI card. Use Windows XP Professional SP2 for SATA drive with more than 120 GB. XP should able to tell u that your drive is new and ask u to create NTFS partition by selection of quick format or the normal way. The rest follow the instruction to complete your installation.
