Your hair contains germs and if they didn't shave you, your hair would infect the surgical site.

Think of it this way..had you rather be itchy or have an infection?

Is this your 1st in hospital, they need to shave it,so when they insert the tools in your navel and other parts in your body the hair wouldn't get caught in the tool and they are suppose take off your clothes and brief that's were they going to do the procedures, how will they operate you, if your still in your clothes, think man, they will not let you wear your brief they just operate and the stitches are not stable yet.will bleed and infection.what do you expect they just shave your pubic hair, they are suppose to be itchy, how come you got in to the military?

they may have shaved it depending on the method of your surgery. Sometimes the insert tools under your navel and in other places so they shave hair as to not infect the entry site.
