msconfig --> startup tab. (You will need to restart your computer to put the changes you make into effect.) God Bless.

If you're using Windows XP, click on Start, Settings, Task Bar and Start Menu. Select Customize then select the icons you don't want to see. Your choices are Hide When Inactive, Always Hide and Always Show. Pick the one you want for each icon. I keep most of mine hidden unless they become active. This sure keeps a lot of clutter out of your Task Bar!

right click on the systray or the part where the time is. then click on properties. under the taskbar tab, on the bottom part of which you should see there a checkbox that says hide inactive icons. have it checked. then click on customize . under behavior just set the preferences; either you want it hidden when inactive, always hidden or always show.
you can always use msconfig on this but just be careful .

your close, you right click the start button, then property's. a window will open, click task bar, then custom.....
