What is a Good, Sweet wine???

My Sis & I have taken it upon ourselves to prepare the Turkey Day dinner this year. We both love to cook and are looking for a good, sweet wine to enjoy while we prepare the dinner.

Any good suggestions???

Update:

Um, well, we aren't drinking it with dinner. We are having it while we MAKE the dinner. lol....

Update 2:

Not totally sloshed, just enough to take the edge off. After all, there will be 28 for dinner.......lol

So you're gonna get sloshed while the turkey cooks? OH my, how fun! I would go with a white (looks pink) zinfandel or lambrusco(red). Or you might even try a Sangria. Here is a link to the food network with some recipes that would be fun and tasty and make a big batch so you can get really snockered! LOL

    Riesling. Alsace region.

White Zinfandels are usually sweet. Beringer '05 White Zin under $10.00, but make sure you read the bottle as blush and rose wines are making a come back and some of them may be in the traditional dry format.

    Asti Spumante-For a sparkling wine.

Muscat-nice orange flavors-you can find a lighter style suitable for drinking by itself- St Supery Moscato '05 and Quady Electra Orange Muscat '05

I'm hesitant stear you in the direction of a really heavy sweet and sticky as you'll be drunk before you pull the turkey out of the oven..not to mention possible side affect..hang over. But the ones above are sweet and can cross over as lighter style wines.

Ice wine and port are good dessert wines. However, if you want to serve wine with dinner, you are better off serving a Riesling or even a Zinfandel (go fruity if you are serious about sweetness). Wild Vines makes a mean Strawberry Zinfandel!

i found that most of the Reislings on the market these days is the way to go if you are looking for a good sweet wine. usually the Reisling class is used to drink with pastry desserts. and it isn't as common as the white zin. usually wines are sold to local markets and if ordered online it is a bulk buy. so i don't know which wineries you have close to you but i am sure you will be happy with a Reisling

even as a wine is going by fermentation, the grape's organic sugars are switched over to alcohol by yeast. even as a winemaker stops the fermentation procedure short, different wine's sugar continues to be unconverted into alcohol and makes up the wine's residual sugar (RS) content. that's this residual sugar that provides up the sweet aspect in a wine. we can purely style 4 factors: sweet, salty, bitter and bitter, yet we can scent thousands of unique aromas. that's the interaction between our tastebuds and our olfactory applications that enable us come across such style in style.

  • Depends...

Do you want white to go with the turkey, or red to compliment a spread? Cost is a consideration as well as quality of the vintage.

I personaly like a lower quality, inexpencive B class wine called 'Wild Irish Rose' It has a deep red color, pungent flavor with a hint of rose essence. And it also comes in a blush peach. You may have to order it or hunt around, it's not easy to find.

Any blush wine would be a good semi-sweet wine. Any Ruster Ausbruch is giong to be a really good sweet wine, but in my opinion Feiler-Artinger is the best!

If you want a wine that is so sweet it tastes like grape juice go for Riunite Lambrusco. It's cheap too.

  • a good wine to go w/ Turkey is QUARA TORRENTES, it is very sweet w/ a peach undertone..does not even taste like grape wine!!! You will love it!!
