it is partially a question that suggests something that could happen but isn't actually happening at the time it is asked...

What if the moon turned purple overnight?....it could potentially happen, isn't happening now and isn't likely to..so it is purely theoretical..

Theoretical can also refer to something that you think is true but you cannot prove..hence the term 'theoretical physics'..although it can be proved mathematically...as it cannot be literally seen..it is termed as theoretical.

When you ask something theoretically, it means that in reality it cannot be proven; usually used in mathematics, or space...

The one you're asking. I mean, a question in which the answer needs to be researched. That is, you guess at the answer because you don't know the answer.
