As a child, were you in daycare....and did you like it...how did it feel when you were left there?
I want to hear from any of you who had to be in a daycare facility as a child. Did you like it really? Did you feel abandoned or left behind? Did it make you angry inside.....if so, why?
I'm trying to see if that is a connection to my daughter's anger.
The type of daycare is where there are 15 to 25 children in each room...year round.

I hated daycare for two reasons: they made us have a nap in the daytime and made us eat really gross food. That got me into trouble with the staff: for example I was not allowed to leave the table until I had eaten everything. Well as I was not a spiteful kid as such, I cleared the plate and then puked it out again. As for the naps, I learned to keep very quiet and close my eyes when a staff member passed my cot. Anyway, I was so miserable that my mother took me out of daycare and sent me to another place - without naps and forcible feeding (all the kids brought their own lunch). But did this scar me for life? I don't think so. Today, I have a healthy appetite (some might say, too healthy) and no trouble at all to sleep during daytime. ;))))

Daycare is a good opportunity for a child to becomed socialized. I liked daycare, it gives the child a change in their daily schedules, allows friendships to start, and gives the parents a little break too. I have friends now that I've had since I was two, and i'm 20. I think the best way to have kids is daycare is to only have them there for 2-3 days a week, that way they still get time with there parents.

I wasn't as a child, but I recently worked in one, and saw everything you just described. It broke my heart something fierce. I kinda think the reason why I was let go (they told me it was budget cuts) was there was one girl there who was skin and bones, had a slight feces/urine smell about her, and had sores on her face that she claimed was from her parrot. She tended to cling to me whenever I was on duty, and I suspect the center knew I was about to file a CPS report on the situation. I still think about that poor girl to this day!
