Is there a way to permanantly delete someone from your list, AND block messages that they send?

nothing is permanent... you can put them on ignore after deleting them from your list, but that never seems to last...

Yes...click on Messenger at the top of your friends list...then go to Preferences...then to ignore list, and add the person u wish to block messages from. To delete...right click on their name, scroll down to delete and click on it...it will ask if you're sure and you click yes. Then you will no longer see that person online and will no longer get IM's from them

There is a block mechanism on messenger. If you have tried that already and they are still contacting you, I would contact Yahoo!'s customer service.
