Let me get this straight, you americans PAY to go to college?

I live in AUS and over here the gov. pays our college fees and we pay them back gradually once we graduate. However if we work in the field which we studied we can claim a significant portion of the payments on our tax returns and many people dont pay much even after they graduate.

Does america have a similar scheme or do you guys have to pay upfront?

If you do, as I suspect you do, dont you think its ridiculously unfair that education is restricted to the wealthy?

You are correct. It is ridiculously unfair. Fortunately, really good students do manage to get degrees and contribute to society.

In the USA, college education is big business more than pure education.

The more prestigious the school, the higher the costs. Harvard, Yale, etc can cost more than $40,000/year in tuitions! This does not include books, room, board, etc.. Nonetheless, people are clambering over each other to get in.

Most students with little financial resources must rely on scholarships; either outright grants or low interest student loans. Many students spend years repaying loans.

Also, state sponsored schools, e.g. Ohio University, have more affordable tuitions. But even then, they may be $10,000/year and up.

Tuitions must be paid upfront each quarter or semester before a student can register for classes.

There are many plans for paying for college, including paying upfront, or doing it over time. If you go to school at your state college, then it is a lot cheaper, because you live there.

In oosa, the parents are responsible for their wards upto the age of maturity or school education, which is free. Higher education is not the responsibility of the parents and hence the students fend for themselves work, i.e they work for living, save and then go to College.

nicely, even although that i imagine protection force experience is a sturdy ingredient, you seem to be a wise lady so i do not begrudge you with various of ineffective training. i do not recommending enlisting. i imagine you ought to seem into the nationwide shelter. move into the nationwide shelter, then move to that college you want to move to and if it has an ROTC software do SMP. apart from get a GFRD scholarship. Doing this you'd be able of pay on your practise thoroughly PLUS get about 1k more advantageous residing money, come out as an nationwide shelter officer. i imagine considering your major purpose is to end college, and depending on the way you write you seem extraordinarily wise, that it truly is proper route. Edit: even although that a tremendous want to serve your us of a is a tremendous reason to hitch. enable's be truthful, the overall public of the protection force does not be contained in the protection force in the experience that they provided no reward. I did no verify in to be an eleven bang bang because I loved my us of a that i ought to gladly provide me in contact with it. I did because i mandatory money for school and that i had to bounce out of an airplane. 10 years later i'm nonetheless the following. the protection force is what you're making it, so if she is going in with a good body of ideas and takes benefit of ALL their classes, i'm particular she'll come out a contented camper.
