That depends on what you are talking about here.

My father used to make me rake leaves and cut the grass when I didn't want to. He made me stop seeing this guy when I was 16 but we ended up together for many years anyway.

My father never, on the other hand forced me to do anything immoral or dishonest or creepy. (if you know what I mean)

R u chinese? I'm a British born Chinese and my dad likes to tell me what not to do that is respectable in my ethic culture. I have a different culture to him so I do what I think is best for myself even if it is frown upon in my dad's culture but he learnt that I am my own person and backed off... Show your dad you are a grown up and stand up to what you believe in. In time he will understand.

Communicate with him. Not just talk to him. Communication helps u and your dad to listen and understand each other point of views. Accept his words if u feel that is reasonable.

For eg. we may be angry that our parents wouldn't want us to go for dating when we barely turn 15. But they are right, when we are much older. cheers.

if you think it robs you your freedom as a person and it jeopardizes your happiness, go against your father's will but let him understand that as a sign of respect..afterall, no one knows what can make you haapy but you alone..
