What is the difference between love and a sexual obsession for another person?

good question, although i must say whole BOOKS have been written on this topic! have you read John Irving's book The World According to Garp...? it's a great book with much of it dedicated to the main character trying to destinguish between love and lust.

lust is the feeling you get when you're absolutely curious about the pure physicality of another person. lust can exist in love, but with love there is the aspect of trust and commitment. of knowing what you're into, what you're coming home to, and knowing this for a long time. oh geez, i'm starting to cry...

Imagine being in your 90's and being unable to perform sexually. The person you love will still entice you with conversation and companionship. The person you used to obsess about sexually will have left you to be with someone else, or you would have left them when you stopped feeling like being sexually attracted to them. The problem becomes that we sometimes think that feelings are the same as thoughts, and they are not. Love is the person you can't live without. Sexual obsession is the person you want, but not need.

Obsession is the desire to have another knowing it's wrong, kinda like a crush, love , well love is knowing that person is there, caring for you, knowing that love is yours and trusting that that person is all yours. That person loves you for who you are, not what you may become in the next 20 yrs, they love you for today and I would hope you would do the same.

when you know you are not going to see that person for sometime,it makes you feel sad and you want to cry,that's love.when you feel that you are disgusted cos you are not going to see that person and you won't be having any sex for a while,thats sexual obssesion...(you might even think of calling another person to have sex with you to fill up the gap!!)

lil philosophical answer this one sexual obsession is just physical,while love is physical,mental and spiritual think on these lines and you shall understand
