Small Buy-in Hold'em Tournaments in Vegas?
I am playing in a $60 buy in Hold'em Tournament in Vegas at Treasure Island in February. What would a payout be, and is this type of tournament relatively loosely played? Anyone have any advice that have played in these?

There a lot of Tournaments in Vegas every day (see link below). I can promise you that there is at least a handful of good players in every tournament.
The locals (sharks) make a ton of money off the tourist (small fish) every day by playing in these tournaments and in some cases, they work in teams to improve their winning potential.

It all depends on how many players they get total. Wish I could be of more help, but without that info it's impossible to gauge how many spots would get paid or how much they'd get paid.
$60 is probably a great buyin for a tourney. It's enough to scare off the schmucks that don't have a clue, but not enough to lure in the sharks looking for that big payday. My guess is that you'll be looking at a fairly amateur field, but they will be amateurs that know a little bit about how to play so I wouldn't expect to see half your table go allin on the opening hand or anything. Keep in mind too that whether you are playing in a 10 person tournament or a 10,000 person tournament, at any given time there are only 9 (sometimes less) players that you need to beat and they are the ones sitting around your table. Focus on them and them only (Don't worry about who just went out on a big hand all the way across the room. Let your opponents do that while you focus on taking their chips.) Learn their tells early and get a read on their playing style and then take them to the cleaners.

first how many people are in tourney? and you said small buy in -$60 is NOT small there are at least 5 joints that have $17 tournaments daily(read latest card player) Well they all get wide open near the end but initial "LOOSENESS" will depend on total payout and until you know number of paid entrants you can't know that ,also is there any $ added by the house,this also drives the gamblers among us.Is this one a local deal or are they touting it online or in nationwide publications? Good luck and try to find these answers and we can do the math
