How do I convince an org. that advertising via sms is not spamming?

I believe in Mobile Catalogue i.e. getting what I want via mobile phones as this save a lot of cost on printing and etc. BUT my clients seems unconvinced and believe ppl in Malaysia still like the idea of flipping through beautiful catalogue which is very expensive and they want to find way to cut down the cost by passing the cost to participating merchants who got a product to sell. So this created a different kind of problem. How do I convince them that Mobile Catalogue is the answer

There could be some objects which could be sold this way. Maybe car parts, household chemicals, food, records - something the client already knows. But not everything because you have to look at pictures to make up your mind. And the catalogue has to be ordered, not sent around to everyone because thats spamming. As to getting people to like your product - advertise! Why don't you tell them why YOU would like this method and be honest, this will work the best. As for the cost of the service: in our country sms is not so cheap. And what about the length of the messages? Then you'll have to send many messages and that would be annoying to the receiver. Anyway - if you feel you are the only one who likes the idea - maybe its not such a good idea? Have another idea?

Rosy, it is spamming. All over the world privacy laws have come into force. Anything unsolicited would invite legal action.

Your clients are correct. Mobile catalogue have limitations as far as viewing is concerned. If you want I can make an effort to work out the cost in Delhi.

u tell them, mobile catalogue saves more. even if a beautiful catalogue is handed down to you, u will only flip through and throw it away. and thats a waste.

express that ur mobile catalogue only sends sms to SPECIFIC customers, and not spamming. clients can notify u not to send anymore sms if they want to (means u delete them from ur clients database). supply ur mobile catalogue with website links if clients want to know more.

    good luck.
