    Denver, Colorado there are two mints in the US for legal tender. Denver and Philadelphia. all those coins by the "franklin mint" are worthless as money.

    "D" mint mark.....Denver branch 1906

    "S" mint mark............. San Francisco branch

    "W" mint mark............ West Point branch

    "CC" mint mark.......... Carson City

    Larger denominations of gold and silver coins were labeled with

    "C" mint mark.............Charlotte

    "O" mint mark.............New Orleans

    "D" mint mark.............Dahlonega ( town in Lumpkin County, Georgia)

    The latter three were used between 1838 and 1839

    Between 1965 and 1967, no American coins displayed mintmarks, in order to discourage the hoarding of coins by numismatists.
