Do you believe that Myspace.com Is it as dangerous as people say?

Personally I don't think that Myspace.com is bad. I believe it is all about how much you disclose, pictures you post, information you place on your page and info you give out. I was listening to talk radio one day and they threw out this interesting 'fact' so to speak that the majority of people on myspace are in their 30's... any one care provide the truth on that matter? I also believe that it is a great way to network your music, videos, comedy or what ever it is that you do. So what you think? I am totally not looking to hear about what 20/20 did... I know what they did. I'm over it and you can e-mail me your thoughts about that (hit the link on my page) [side not it can't stand it when people disable their e-mail on here... if you are going to say something that is more over your opinion than an answer be prepared to back it up] Yeah, so once again what are your views on this matter? Oh, I am not going to pick the answer I am going to put it up for voting, in case you cared.

IT is only bad if you allow it to be.

    I agree with your opinion.

The internet in general is dangerous, and yes, it is a place where pedophiles and other perverts can go and try to feed their perversion....but they can only get to you if you let them! Don't take that the wrong way; it's never a victim's fault.....never never never.

If you stop and look into the some of these scary stories concerning Myspace, you will see that they all have one common denominator; the victim in the case allowed him or herself to be in contact with the person who victimized them.

I have a Myspace account, and I don't give out the city I live in, much less the exact street address of my residence. I'm also very very very caurtious as to who I talk with and have as a friend. People have to protect themselves, or in many cases parents have to be aware of what kids are putting on myspace. parents should get an account themselves, and make sure that they are a friend on their kid's webpage so they can see what pictures are up and who they have on their friends list.

Myspace is really like anything else out there in the world, you have to have your guard up, and if you're a parent have a guard up for them.

it is as safe as the user allows it to be.. there are many thing you can do to make it safer..

    1. not disclose your city you live in.. especially if it is a small town

    2. do not give out your last name.. Do not put it in your personal info eitheir

3.if you put your first name in ther be aware that when some one sends you a group invite they will see your real first name.. So use an initial

    4. is you know some one and they leave a comment with your last name on it take it off..

    5. if your friends states on there page you are their best friend if they use your last name ask them to take it off

    6. if you put pic of your kids on your page set it to privet.. best not to put any at all.

    7. never list your schools this makes it really easy for people to track you.

    8. along with your DOB

    9. do not say where you work..

but myspace is a good place to meet other people.. i have met several other stay at home moms.. and when you are stuck with kids all day it is nice to have an adult conversation.. not to mention some great tunes i have downloaded...

My space is really no different than a Yahoo account. A person in only in danger if they post to much information on the site. With all the access to what sickos are up to these days, only the plain foolish would post personal information like address, Phone number. etc.

i used to have an account with them. my friends on there were my friends and family in real life. we used to use it to communicate and show each other pic's. i kept my account private so no one can see my stuff.

i don't think the way i was using it was dangerous.

as i was browsing on others peoples page i found some dangerous things.

from reading this one womans page on the comment section i found out where she was going the following friday night. to some bar in her town. i figured out that was her usual spot.

another section had a women with a whole bunch of people saying "get well", i figured out from reading her comments and her #1 friends blog that she was in a coma and deathly ill.

My concerns is the contacts, they can say what they want, send pictures that are not theirs and turn out to be child molesters or pedifiles and some are arrested and come back again under another name.
