GET THE DOG TREATED. Sarcoptic mange is painfull but easy to treat. Mange causes the immune system to be suppressed so the mange can thrive in the skin. Other diseases can be caught much more easily during a mange infection.

There are unique varieties of mange. They are brought on by means of mites that often reside in every canine's skin. Have your vet do a dermis scraping & microscopic examination to assess which sort your are coping with. More most likely than no longer a weakened immune process can also be to blame & the very first thing you will have to do is be certain your dog is healthful. While there are chemical therapies; shampoos & dips they're harsh & have the expertise to purpose harm. You will discover many normal treatments so one can work good & are much less poisonous.

They can die from conditions caused by it (open infected sores, etc.).

I found a pup and his Mom dumped out on the side of the road years ago. The Mom was smooth bald all over due to mange, and had many open infected sores. Some of them appeared green. The pup was in same condition, but with a sprig of hair here and there.

The Mom was dead, but the pup was alive, energetic, scared and feverish. I managed to catch him, and take him home.

Long story short, I cured him. But I am positive that his Mom died from those infected sores.

The mange itself likely will not kill a dog, but the dog may develop infected wounds if the mange is not treated. Complications from these secondary infections kill many dogs.

While sarcoptic mange is difficult to diagnose definitively, it is fairly easy to treat and a number of choices are available.
