Years ago my sister and I were getting ready for New Years Eve. We were excited as we were going to the beach to celebrate and some boys were picking us up.

At 6.00 we recieved the call "sorry you can't come we can't fit you". Dissapointed we decided we would try to make our way to the city (Melbourne, Australia). We had a friend with us, our parents were away so we decided we would walk to the bus stop which takes over an hour.

We got there to find their were no buses, we decided to call a cab, we waited and waited sitting on the side of the road singing and waving to people.

The cab came at ll.30pm, we only had enough time to get to our local we were all 18 at the time but didn't yet have a car. We got to the pub just before 12.00 and said happy new year to each other, it was a fizzer.

We decided to leave and go back to our friends house, we got a lift and when we arrived at 1.30 am she realised she had left her keys inside. She assured us her flat mate wouldn't be too far away. We waited and chatted and sang and it started to rain. It was cold we were tired and hungry and wet!

The flatmate arrived at 6.00 am, we greated her with whoops and squeals of delight, she let us in made us a hot chocolate and we all went to sleep.

Looking back we all remember this new years eve, it was 18 years ago, we all laugh about it. And Yes the boys are still our friends after all this time, one married my cousin and I married one.

Between 1999 and 2000, on a cruise ship in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. What an awesome sunset we saw. With my wife of 38 years at the time.

December 31, 1999, Y2K threatening our very existence, and my young nephew holds a wedding to beat all weddings. Completely non-alcoholic, but the best time I've ever had. We rang in the New Year and didn't once worry about the end of life....we rejoiced in the beginning of life and knew that our future was certain. :-)
