EDTV (Enhanced Definition TV) generally refers to video with picture quality beyond what is broadcastable in NTSC (analog broadcast) or PAL (color encoding system for broadcasting), but not sharp enough to be considered HDTV.

Component cables are really all you need. However, with plans for all broadcasts to go HD in early 2009, my suggestion is to go ahead an invest in HD now. You won't be disappointed.

EDTV needs a trash can.... they made HDTV before EDTV... kind of a waste of money

but no it will make your cable look a lot better but nothing like a good HDTV
