Why cant we all respect each other?

Without bashing someone because there is this faith or that faith. I look at it this way everyone opinion is valid. I could be wrong but it is valid and we should respect it as we expect people to respect ours. So Why cant we just respect each other?

Update:

I understand it is freedom to chooce.

Update 2:

Rev. Red you give christians a bad name

Update 3:

Ekduin nothing is impossible.

Update 4:

Rocky You are right that Jesus said that. But The Bible does say that We are to speak the Thruth in LOVE. Not bash people over the head with it.

Update 5:

If people are wondering. I am a born-agian Christian that believe we should respect others.

It's not that we can't, it;s that we CHOOSE not to. Freedom of choice is a fundamental aspect of being human.

Because some people beliefs are just stupid, kidding (kind of). But seriously, it is so frustrating when people believe in things that aren't real like "hell" and "the devil" its so annoying. I mean do people seriously think a guy with horns and a tail who holds a trident actually exists. Why would God create an enemy for herself? Why? I'll tell you, he wouldn't. And even more annoying is that people talk about these fairy tales (ie. the devil, hell) like there real. And then there are those people who deny God's existence, I mean God does exist. I know it's not there fault if they don't believe but still it's so hard to keep quiet when it comes to stuff like this. And of course everybody believes in something different and they all have to defend their beliefs (like me I guess lol) and then everyone ends up getting all temperamental and they start attacking each other. And then there's those people who use religion to justify there own prejudices, that REALLY ANGERS ME. Anyway, that's what I have to say. (Maybe I'm a part of the problem, I don't know lol)

I think a large part of the problem is that the tenets of so many of these faiths you're talking about are so exclusive. The Qur'an talks about everyone who isn't Islamic being "losers". In the Bible, Jesus says, "I am the way; no man cometh to the Father except through me", and I'm not even going to get started on Judaism, but you know what the deal is there; all throughout the Torah basically any people who weren't Jewish were decimated by "God's Chosen People". It's the reason John Lennon wrote these lyrics:

    "Imagine there's no Heaven

    It's easy if you try

    No Hell below us

    Above us only sky.

    Imagine all the people

    Living for today ...

    Imagine there's no countries

    It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

    And no religion too

    Imagine all the people

    Living life in peace ..."

So long as religion teaches people that their way is the only way, it will continue to breed a deep lack of respect for others. Sad, isn't it? But that's how it is...every day...all over the world.

Kenneth, firstly what an incredibly marvelous question. if only there were more people in this world like you. I believe that it is of utmost important not to be judgemental and to give everyone an equal opportunity to live and learn by their belief. we have no right to undermine someone but we have a right to our own opinion and we also have to understand that it can only be an OPINION. to answer your question, in my opinion people may just always want to be right regardless and find it difficult to admit wrongness. Anyhow thank you for your question and i wish you everything in the best in the future. do take care!

Jesus said because the world hated him first the world would hate us. If we say we are Christians we are automatically a target for ridicule. This is the cross we must carry daily.

Most Christians do respect others. But everyone wants us to adapt to the worldly standards. If we adapt we are hypocrites.

God bless everyone. I respect your opinions, but I can't change mine about God.

There is a difference between respecting someone, treating them with dignity ("do unto others") and being afraid to challenge their thinking. I can communicate with someone with dignity but disagree strongly with their statements or their beliefs.

They might take my disagreement as a lack of respect but as Christians we must hate the things that God hates and love the things that God loves.

    god bless!!

    .....Not gonna happen

    but it be nice eh?

Well, that would be nice, wouldn't it?

One side believes in Freedom of Religion.

The other side believes in Freedom of Speech.

Both come with the responsibility of respect that everyone seems to forget.
