Nothing much, unless you ask "nothing wavering", according to James Chp 1 of the Bible... which is to say ask for the truth no matter what, even if it makes your religious theories dead wrong.

I spent the first half of my life in so-called Christian churches. I prayed a lot, and studied a lot; And I became legalistic instead of grace us. But after spending seven years studying the book of Revelation, and finding none of the religious theories about it computed from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21; Then I trashed it all and asked God for wisdom, nothing wavering. Then I got it: understanding, and was thereafter taught directly by the Spirit. Then I understood "the God of all grace" is no law at all, and "the God of all comfort" is no discomfort at all; just as "that God" (of this/that Gods) is light having no darkness at all.

With all thy getting, get understanding.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

    Nothing would happen.

I know for a fact, because back in my teen years, having been raised in a religion but having doubts, I spent a LOT of time praying that god would give me SOME kind of demonstration that he was real -- show himself, reveal himself, speak to me, send a bolt of lightning, SOMETHING -- and nothing ever happened.

Later on, and with the help of education that taught me how to think, I realized the fact that there is no evidence of any kind that any god exists, and the likelihood of one existing is so miniscule as to be practically nil. I also learned the histories of religions, the falsehoods in the bible, how the bible was actually put together, how religion has been used throughout its history to control the minds and lives of people...

The evidence is clearly and distinctly plain that there is no god of any kind. Hey, I kind of wish there was (although probably not the god of the old testament, or the "god" most christians claim to worship), and I kind of wish there were an afterlife -- but there isn't. Sorry. Wishing something were true doesn't make it so. And though the idea of god, heaven, etc. brings "comfort" to some people, I personally can't be comforted by believing in something that doesn't exist -- I'd just be deluding myself, and where's the comfort in that?

So many responses here such as, "many people don't understand god's response," or "he doesn't reveal himself that way" -- well then what's the point? Why does "god" promise to reveal himself to people who seek him in the bible, then the "revelation" is incomprehensible? Why not do what he says he'll do? It's all just circular reasoning to try and justify their belief in something that doesn't exist, doesn't answer any prayers, and can't possibly "reveal" anything. Circular reasoning: you have to have faith before you get an answer, but the answer gives you faith...ridiculous. Self-delusion and lack of critical thinking skills. People who believe in god are either uneducated, unskilled in thinking and reasoning, mentally damaged, or so beaten down by family and society that they are defeated, and succumb to insane irrationalization.

I would never pray for something that God has already told us , No man hath seen God at any time,

On the judgment day we will all see God and bow down and confess, God will either Accept us if we accepted him, and He will reject us if we have rejected him.

To pray to God and ask him to reveal himself would not be right.

He has revealed His will to us through Christ's sacrifice and the Holy Bible.

    Hi:

I was only a boy and did not know the meaning of the word "reveal" However, I prayed with all my heart to God to ask him to show me how to believe, how to be saved. I was reading the verse John 3:16 because others had told me I could find the way by reading this verse. I read the verse and could not understand it. I felt desperate and lost. It was after I prayed and asked God to please show me the way, that the words "should not perish, but have everlasting life" showed to me that I would not perish because Jesus died for my sins. I thanked God for his salvation that day over 50 years ago.

I believe that if we honestly ask God to reaveal himself to us, he will do so in the person of his son. Jesus is the one who reveals God to us. It is by him we come to God. Do not be afraid to rest your all upon him and through yourself upon his mercy, love and grace.

    He would.

You'd see something you hadn't seen before. Notice something you didn't know exsisted. Maybe a new person in your life who tells you about God. He would reveal Himself, but He is not limited to the things we imagine.

Actually, after engaging in a conversation with a Christian on this site, I wsa convinced to give it a shot - what could it hurt, right??

I did so and tried really hard. I said the prayer asking Jesus to reveal himself to me - nothing more. Nothing selfish. Just reveal yourself to me... All I got was an uneasy feeling of sillyness... Maybe He wasnt revealed to me because he could sense that I dont beleive - or maybe I felt silly because he doesnt exist and I was wasting time.... I dont know. All I know is I tried what I was asked to try, and it didnt work.

The Lord says: Then you will call upon Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you......

When our hearts are in the right place we will search for him and He WILL be found (revealed to you) BUT during that time you must walk in faith, only He knows when you are ready

Confess your sins, receive Jesus as Lord of your life, seek Him thru prayer, his word (the bible), worship....

If you want more info, email me.

I've prayed and prayed for many reasons for many days, but God doesn't work that way- he is with you ALL the time- revealing himself to you in your thoughts not in your eyes, in your mind not in your eyes, in your heart and in your soul.

In the Gospel of John, after the Last Supper in the discourse where Jesus is praying for his disciples, he says if you keep my Commands we will come to you and make our home with you and if you love me you will keep my Commands and I WILL REVEAL MYSELF TO YOU. This is true

If you are genuinely asking and not simply challenging him then you would receive a response. Although, many people do not understand the response they get.
