I had a rat for about a year. Funny story is I got her at PetCo and got her out of a "male" cage. I chose her because she was the smallest, but didn't look to see if she really was male. 1 month later my daughter woke in the morning to little squeaking noises. Turns out she had 5 babies. One of them was a runt and was sickly so the Mom didn't want to take care of her. I took her out of the cage and took care of her, feeding her with an eye dropper and bathing her for about a month. It was so adorable to watch her little tiny paws hold onto the eyedropper like a baby holding a bottle. Sadly she died, as I knew she would. She never grew. But her Mommy lived with me ( I took the other's back to the pet store) until she died of a tumor almost a year ago. She was amazing and wonderful and I am glad to have had her the time I did.

I love pet rats, I have had many friends that have had them, I have not personally had one, but I have babysat them. They are very sweet and can be trained well.
Did you know that they also have trained rats for therapeutic purposes? I know someone who had a rat that rode on her back and constantly moved from shoulder to shoulder digging at her back, helping stimulate the muscles to help her back troubles.

I do, I just don't care all that much for their long tail- When I was younger, my little sister and I each had a pet rat- Their names were Cheezy and Squeeky. They really do make great pets and they seem to be very smart.

I have a pet rat and she is so cute, when I go to walk by she stands up waiting on her treat. I think she has me trained because as soon as she does it I go to get her treat.

YES I LOVE ALL ANIMALS! RATS ARE ACTUALLY VERY INTELLIGENT ANIMALS AND CAN BE TRAINED TO SOLVE MAZES, ETC. I LIKE THE HAIRLESS ONES TOO, THEY ARE ALWAYS AT THE RENNASAINCE FESTIVAL. I TOOK IN A PET MOUSE, NOT QUITE A RAT, BUT LESS INTIMIDATING FOR THOSE WHO WANT A RAT BUT LIVE WITH SOMEONE WHO FEELS SCARED/WEIRD ABOUT THEM, I NAMED HIM ALGERNON AFTER A GRAET PSYCH. MOVIE MOUSE. Rats are awesome, in fifth grade is when i really started to like them. we had these two class rats, a tan one named timmy, and a black and white one named cow. they were like littel people, they have such awesome personalities. i have a black one right now, named boyfriend. he loves to sit on my shoulder and watch movies and eat popcorn with me. theres a special type of rodent popcorn did u no? ke has that and i have my own popcorn. hes awesome. his tail is black too, and i think he's sooo cute. rats are totally not descusting, but my brother thinks so. one time i put boyfriend in his room and he woke up to boyfriend's rat feet on his face. it was awesome cause hes always pulling pranks on me.!!!! rats rock!!
