Is your computer in a cramped space? Make sure that your computer has the ventilation that it needs. Your fan is trying to cool down your system. If it overheats, then your computer more than likely has a system that will shut it off before it causes any damage, but it's still best to make sure that your vents are not being blocked too much.

If you are using a laptop, then don't use it on the carpet or cloth. This can cause overheating.

You didn't say if it's a standing fan or ceiling fan? if the fan is not standing on level ground? it could be "vibrating". also, open it up to check if the screws or mechanism inside is too loose. Usually AOK after I check these on my fans
