How do you standardize an essay for a Philosophy Course?

I have to write a 5-6 page analysis of one of the essays in our book. The first step is to standardize it. I don't know how to do that or what it means. Can someone help me out please? Thanks.

I'm not sure what standardizing is really, but for the philosophy papers I so dreadfully write have just the basics. It needs a clear thesis to start with that must include all major points and your purpose(wat your tryin to prove). then all the body paragraphs tie into the thesis. Then your conclusion where you summarize and restate message. I'm sure you already knew the basic parts of an essay, but I think that is all standardizing means. It's best to start out with a clear outline so you don't repeat yourself and it helps you to stay focused and not stray from the meaning of the essay.
