Will the engine from a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier fit into a 1993 Toyota Camry?

Both of the engines are mounted the same way, and they are both 2.2 liters. I just need an engine for my Camry. and I have a wrecked cavalier on my hands. Do you think it would fit?

Update:

I have the entire cavalier, everything but it is totaled. there is everything with it, ecu, transition... everything. but it isn't worth replacing, especially since i have the Camry

just because it's the same displacement doesn't mean a thing. these are two completely different engines, and they will NOT interchange.

they both have to be the same size and make in order for the 04 engine to fit in the 93 camry

NO they will not fit. i am a ase certified mechanic. its a waste of time to try. Chevy and Toyota have different transmissions and they will not interchange. you can change the whole drive change and spend thousands in fabricating or just go buy a engine that's made for your car. your choice.

why would you put a "throw away" engine into a toyota?

no, they will not swap, the only thing they have in common is the engine displacment. engine mounting is different as well as the trans (( auto or std )).

  • Sure... 2.2 isn't that big. I bet you can get it into the trunk.

That's about the only way your going to get that engine into a toyota.

not sure but i know someone who put a toyota engine into a small chevy, i cant remember what kind but anyway he then drove it around and it did lots of burnouts.

well even if it fits u need to change the ecu and computer things because they are different motors.

just a guess but the wires would be all messed up including computer controls

It would be too expensive, (lots of modifications) and the result would be less than satisfying.
