what could cause a truck to stall out?
i have a 1998 dodge ram with the 5.2 motor.my problem is when i am driveing in the city or highway the engine shut's down without warning i pull to the side turn the key and it start's right back and away i go as if nothing happened .i will drive it for some day's later and then without warning it will shut down again.i changed the fuel pump and did a compleate tune up and even change the tps sensor but still have the same problem.the engine has 180.000 km but it was well cared for and it run's great when i don't have this problem.any answere is well come.pat

the stater, the crank sensor, cam sensor these are what makes it fire i would guess you changed the fuel sock filter when you changed the fuel pump there is not a in-line fuel filter on it ........... when the stater or crank sensor start going out they will do this and the ecm computer also can do this but usually does not start right back

How fast are you driving when the engine shuts off? There is a known speed limiting system that shuts off an engine at certain speeds. Try checking that part and see if it's malfunctioning.

i had a similar problem. it turned out to be my battery cables. if they are original it could be that easy. i also had a bad charcoal filter that sucked some into to carb. and had to flush it out. i finally sold it with over 300,000 miles on it. it could be alot of things.
