How to advertise software that I've developed?

I'd like to know the most cost effective way to sell software that I've developed. It is designed for a specific industry (Golf Courses throughout the world).

First you should specify your goal: not to spend on promoting your software regardless you possible profit or to get the most reasonable balance between the cost of the promotion and the money you want to earn.

If the first, then go to the soft-resellers who advertise their resources themselves. It'll cost you nothing, except you'll say good buy 50% of your profit.

If the second, I'd suggest creating some media presentation (it can be made in Flash technology) and just send it via email to thousands of your possible clients. It would cost only a price for a program that helps you create presentations and the money for Internet traffic. Good luck!

OK I would say don't laugh, go online to the big golf companies and send them a sample of your software. That's the best way. Make sure you have your licenses and patents so when you do score you are ready for business

Tell people about it, and incentivise them to sell it for you.

If it is good, it should be on the web, in full detail, and priced accordingly, there is a niche for everything.

Biggest mistake in the world these days is keeping good ideas and developments secret - make it available easily.

By the way - this was a good idea to start!

The best way is to give people a demo version. Optimize your site so they google you and easily download it, then I would do some cold calling to get people to try your product.

I would try to get into some golf publications also.
