What essential item would you bring camping?
I am trying to help my daughter with a project that will be 1/4 of this 9 weeks grade. She has her items already but I am curious to see what other's would think as essential.
If you could only bring twelve items for camping, what would you bring?
To all thoses who got a thumbs down rating. It wasn't by me, that I can promise you. Some smart-aleck did this and I sincerely didn't appreciate it.
This is a class project I am helping my daughter with. I got it wrong and I apologize to all of you. The question was " What 12 items would you want to have on you if you were stranded in the wilderness." I total apologize for getting this wrong.
Thanks for all the help so far.

There are "ten essentials" commonly recommended for hiking and backpacking in case of a survival situation, seen here: http://www.isu.edu/outdoor/ten.htm.
But for camping, when you can just go sit in your car if necessary, "essential" is relative. You're looking for more like, "tolerable" or hopefully "comfortable":
1. Tent, stakes, guy lines, stake hammer
2. Sleeping Bag, pillow
3. foam Sleeping Pad
4. plastic Ground Sheet
5. Flashlight & extra batteries
6. Lantern & fuel
7. Camp stove, fuel, pot, pan, utensils, sponge, plates, cups
8. Food & water, possibly water filter, perishables in ice chest/cooler with ice
9. lighter, possibly firewood
10. soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and other hygiene products including toilet paper and toilet trowel/shovel if there are no pit toilets
11. Bug spray
12. First aid kit including medicines you use

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv/ and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
