Unfortunately you can't 'spot' lose fat. Generally you just need to burn enough calories to lose weight and it comes off all over. That being said if you tend to carry a little bit of excess weight around your midsection the culprit could be sugar and stress, even a combination of the two. Stress and a diet of refined foods result in stress on your adrenal glands and higher cortisol levels. This can result in excess weight there.
Many people eat low fat diets without realizing what is actually in their low fat foods. "Low fat" variety foods can actually be high in refined carbs or sugars. Your body processes these very quickly, which leads to fluctuations in blood sugar- which can also lead to cravings. Although you are eating less fat, these carbs and sugars will turn to fat if they are more than your body needs. So I suggest looking up foods that are lower in Glycemic Index. These are foods that take your body more time in energy to digest so your body uses them more wisely and you feel more full. Get lots of fibre, protein, good fats, and complex carbs. Also drink lots of water.
All of this is very effective in getting rid of excess fat in the midsection. Good luck

don't drink cold water. Cold water makes you fat. It is a well known fact.
