How to create file to own music after paying a monthly fee?

My son is a member of Napster,

If he quits Napster can he keeps the music we have already paid for? Now he downloads to his Dell DJ but he has to renew every month or so or he will loose what he has already paid for. Suggestions?

When you use Napster, you can download unlimited music if you pay for the subscription service, but the music does come licensed, which means it has to stay on your computer, or authorized MP3 player (if you pay for Napster to Go) - when it's like this, that's why ever so often you need to update your licenses, because they are only good for about 2 weeks.

On the other hand, if you have paid for a track on top of your subscription service (usually .99) or have out right bought an album from them, they don't come licensed, and you are free to rip them to a CD and they will remain whether your a member of Napster or not.

    Hope that helps..

I'm a member of Yahoo Music which is a lot like Napster. We pay a yearly fee of Yahoo Music and use all the music on Yahoo. We download it to our MP3 player. It's great. Every once and awhile our MP3 player will say, "Please connect to keep subscription music". So we just plug in our Mp3 player, connect back to Yahoo Music and we can keep enjoying it. That's how it works.

I have not been able to find a way to convert the files you download to your computer into files you can keep for ever. That is what Torrents are for. With Torrents and stuff you can download Mp3 files that you keep forever.
