how do i find the molar mass of something if I have the freezing point of the substance?

    You will not be asked this on a test because the only way to figure out the molar mass from the freezing point is to do lab work on each element. This is because each element has so different results.

    The only pattern is that dispersion forces tend to increase in strength with increasing molecular weight. Thus freezing points of elements decrease with decreasing weight.

    Well.. you can lookin online for the substance EX: Carbon which has a molar mass of 12.011. Molar mass=average atomic mass.

    Look online for the mass of the substance at the freezing point.

    molar mass is the mass of a substance

    for exampl methane= C4 H10 carbon weighs twelve grams/mole and hydrogen ways 1gram/mole

    so the molar mass = 4x12 + 10 which would give you 58 and that is molar mass
