Why are North indians appear to be backward when compared to South Indians, who better mannered ?
I have travelled around india I do see Goa and Kerala as advanced ( far far better than any state ) and south india in general as much better place than North India ?
I have seen people in Madras deficate in puplic without any shame ! but the culture in bangalore is totally different .
Most of the north indians I spoke with a very proud " We are better than south indias " I could not find a single area where they are better than south indians . The train cars that run on north india are better but lack basic cleanliness ,in kerala and Goa I could find clean train cars but north indian ones were too messy .
I found the people of Goa and Kerala like more friendly,clean and educated like any developed nations .
why is so much difference in india ?

Take any country in the Northern hemisphere and the North is always more advanced than the south. That's true for India and China and Russia and U.S.A and every other country. May be because the technology and work mostly in the North, Like for India - Bangalore is the major technology center, so people there are more advanced and educated.

This difference is due to the education.
kerala has the highest literacy rate among the Indian states
(In 1981-81.6%,
In1991-89.8%,
In 2001-90.92%)
Goa has 3rd place.(In2001-82.32)
the literacy rate in Delhi is less than goa..(In2001-81.62)
the literacy rate of Delhi in 2001 is almost equal to the literacy rate of Kerala in 1981. this is a large difference.
But kerala is not a tidy place.

Goa was ruled by the portuguese for 450 years and that is the reason goa is more westernised.

I think that southern indians got more out of the British than the northerners from their rule....in terms of behaving generally in public, showing respect to others and technological advancements.

Where there is more money, people are generally better.
