When you ask someone to a movie and they turn you down, why do they get mad when you take someone else?

They just wanted you to keep asking. The hard to catch method of flirtation.

Don't worry about it, if they are mad that you took someone else, it shows they were interested in you all along. Now they will do the chasing after you.

You get mad because you are feeling played. But you shouldnt get mad, shakeback off of it, there are plenty of other people out in the world.

Chances are they're jealous. Just politely point out to them that they did refuse, but if you really like this person that refused you the first time, ask them out again to make up for it.
