What's wrong with my border collie?
This just started about an hour ago with my 13-year-old female. never seen it before. Taking her to the vet in the morning, but meanwhile, here is what happens. 1) Normal. 2) Some excitement or other (owner leaving, other dog barking) 3) Loss of muscle control, staggering, drooling, collapse, panic and a kind of swimming motion as she tries to get up. 4) Restrained, kept still. 5) Gradual calming. 6) Calm and normal walking. 7) Vomit 8) Calm and normal walking. She's on Proin and Rimadyl, and we give her fish oil and glucosamine as well. Same regimen for months. Ideas?

I'm sure your vet will check her for geriatric vestibular disease when you tell him her symptoms. My bearded collie got it and the symptoms sound similar. The first episode he had, I thought he'd had a stroke when he couldn't walk and was very disoriented, but it wasn't. Hope your girl will be ok.

I'm sorry, it's sort of difficult to understand your description but to me, it sounds like a seizure.
