Why do so many folks who HATE horse racing post questions and answers in this area of Yahoo Answers?
Possibly, because they would not like to miss any chance to harm the reputation of racing (and anyone involved in the sport) on any level.
I mean, I don't go into the "opera" forum to post about how much I dislike opera, for example. Just as my opinion of opera will not keep a fan from enjoying their entertainment, neither will others negative opinions make a difference to ones here who enjoy horse racing and indeed make their living from the sport.

I think it's just human nature Murph. There's a lot of people that make inane foolish posts just for the sake of making them, then there are people that just babble on without a clue of what they're talking about. Oh well, I like coming on here to converse with those that enjoy the sport and know what they're talking about. Good Luck if you're going out to Beulah Park for the Handicapping Contest, I won't be able to make it due to a shoulder injury.

They suffer from the mistaken assumption that somehow the world would be a better place without the sport which comes from an even more mistaken assumption that it is dangerous and that horses hate racing. If you compare jockey/horse injury rates and auto crashes you'd see a much smaller stat for horses. Why? because everyone in the arena is a professional. I, like almost all, hate to see injuries, but that's just part of life IMO. Very good question.

That's why I go onto serious horse racing forum when I want to discuss or debate with real connoisseurs. This forum is just a pastime.
Btw, are you pulling for Ouija Board at the Hong Hong Vase, that should be her last race, what a super charismatic mare.

Thank-you!! You couldn't have said it better!! I've been working in horseracing the last 5 years and I love it. But can't believe the people who post on here questions like "Don't you think horseracing is cruel?" and what not. I'm sorry I don't think its cruel, I love the sport, it is what I do for a living, it is what pays my bills and puts a roof over my head. I come on here to read questions, answer the ones I can and then there are rude people who probably never been to a horserace in their life that want to post questions and answers just to be smart@sses!! Sure there is lots of sports I don't like but I don't visit those forums to be rude to others. I come here to find people who are interested in horseracing not against it.

Well just because they don't like racing doesn't mean they don't like horses and just riding. I mean there are other sports you can do with horses.
