What do you teach your children about religion? What do you tell them about Allah (God)?

I appreciate all views even if you do not believe since they are expressed decently.

Peace

The instruction must go along with what they can understand. My children are small, I teach them that they can pray and that God hears them. In my 3yo daughters words, "He made me, and I love Him."

I find indoctrination of any kind to be abhorrent. I would only teach my children the truth, and that would require showing them every religion equally, under a setting where they clearly understood that the religion was making unsupported claims and not actually speaking the truth. I would stress upon my child the scientific method and the importance of having proof or evidence before accepting something as truth. I would give my child all the tools needed to form her own conclusions (such as logic, reasoning, and research methods), instead of relying on someone else to tell her what to think.

I am fairly confident that an unbiased view of every religion, along with a research-based discussion about each religion, their history, and the nature of a belief, would cause my child to choose atheism, but I would support her in any choice.

My 5 children were taught what religion is. We gave them an understanding of the main tenets of the major religions - as well as some of the not-so major ones. (My wife's degree is in Anthropology, which made it a lot easier to include a number of cultural currents.) We presented it more or less as: "Here's what many people living in these areas believe." We never attempted to indoctrinate them. To them, Allah is the name given to the Abrahamic deity by (mainly) Arab speakers.

Without exception they all grew up to be loving, moral, productive members of society - and quite jolly to boot. You can count on all of them to be in favor of justice, peace, and reason. They're not perfect, but I'd say they're the kind of people you want for neighbors and friends. My wife and I don't take much credit for how they turned out - we think most of it was their own character. Not a single one is religious in any way.

I am catholic, but I no longer go to church .. I have raised my kids with faith. My faith is strong. I have raised my kids knowing and believing in God, and Christ. But I have not burned it into them. That has to be their decision. There is a big difference between being religious and having faith. If we do not teach our children about God, they will be lost. When all children become lost, it will be the end. And as the bible predicted, we are almost there. For sooooo many now do not have God in their homes. So many people living in hatred. When all folks believed in God, life was more peaceful.... The lack of faith has brought on all the violence, and terrible things in this world. This world is a gonner if we all do not teach our children to believe and have faith of good things to come.

God is love. All religions have the same foundations, but different politics. Some people view religion as a part of their lives and can't seperate good people from regious people. Some even judge our president's bad actions as those of a good christian.

i belive that islam is the only true religion.i m not saying bcoz i m a muslim but bcoz of the fact that islam, like all religious philosophies of the world condemn evil practises like rape , murders etc, but it also gives steps to prevent such evil practises..........take the example of rape, the Quran says : men should lower their gaze ( first step towards preventing rape as a man couldnt see a woman walking alone as he is lowering his gaze) . Quran also says that women should cover themselves well enough (not to arouse sexual feelings in males and also men should also cover themselves well enough not to arouse sexual feelings in women.)

even if rape happens , then punish the rapist with capital punishment , which terrorises the people who rape and by this way Islam suggests the most appropriate measures to remove the evil practises.in the same way,Islam also suggest preventive measures for other evil practises.

I won't teach them anything about religion - I'd rather teach them something that will be useful in their lives, such as why evidence before believing something is so important.

I tell my kids there is no god and all prophets are false but that they should figure that out for themselves and actually look into it.
