What is the perfect restaurant to celebrate my 21st birthday with my mom and underage sister in NYC??

I go to school in NYC and want to have my 21st birthday dinner on the same night as a show I'm seeing Dec. 30th. Given the time of year and 8pm showtime... where would be the best place to celebrate?

    1. Patsy's- excellent Italian quisine (reservations required!)

then go to Joe Allen's after the play for a appetizer, dessert, a meal etc. celebrities frequent this restaurant after the plays let out. make a reservation ahead of time for after your play. be sure to ask for a table in the bar area. the entrance and exit door is through the bar.

    before the play:

if you do not care for Italian food and you want a great sandwich go to Katz Deli.

if you want a great steak ,crab legs, etc go to the Palm or Spark's(expensive and reservations required). the side orders are huge, enough for at least two unless it is a bake potato!

if you want a casual but good place to eat with many different type of dishes go to P.J. Clark's on 3rd A venue- they have the blackboard menu on the wall. no reservations taken!

Le Bernadin for French (expensive and you need reservations)

The Sea Grill which overlooks the skating rink in Rockefeller Plaza (seafood, expensive, and you need reservations)

Rosa Mexican- very good mexican food-need reservations- somewhat expensive

One If By Land, Two If By Sea- Contemporary- outstanding food- need reservations- expensive

ask for meun prices and dress code!

make your reservations at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance then follow up to verify your reservation at least 7 to 10 days in advance!

    happy birthday!

Happy 21st! To make your celebration memorable, I'd suggest something magical. That said, here's the caveat. Most of the places below are quite expensive and a bit touristy. But they're wonderful and magical all the same.

For example, Tavern on the Green. In the winter, Central Park is just gorgeous and the entrance to Tavern with all the white lights on the bare trees is beautiful. You, your mom and sister will all feel like princesses. But make reservations as soon as possible.

Right nearby and possibly nicer because it's more grown up and less touristy, is Cafe des Artistes. This is probably the best selection for outstanding food in an incredibly beautiful environment. From the moment you enter and view all the incredible murals to the time you take your first bite of dessert, the whole experience is enchanting.

In the theater district itself, you might enjoy the view from atop the Marriot Marquis. I don't think the food is stellar, but the view from the revolving restaurant is unbeatable. Again, your sister should get a kick out of this too. This might be a good place to end the evening and have your first 'legal' libation.

The Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center is also a good choice for a magical evening. From a window seat, you'll have a great view of the giant christmas tree and all the skaters. Again, make reservations ASAP.

    Very, happy birthday!!!

    What food do you like?

Balthazar is a pricey French Bistro once popular with NY Celebs for after show dinners. 75 types of oysters. Reservations a must

If your looking for something in the Theatre District, Cafe Edison is a popular spot, but I haven't eaten there. I think it's basic fare.

The Odeon is nice, the drinks strong, and the service good. Try their homemade NY Cheesecake...

The New York Times list the following as the best in NYC:

Alain Ducasse <> Daniel <> Jean Georges <> Le Bernadin

If your mom visits during the summer, go to the Boathouse Restaurant over looking Central Park Lake. Good place to have a drink and relax while watching people in their row boats.

    Happy B-Day.

    Jekyll & Hyde

    1409 Avenue of the Americas

    New York, NY 10019

    http://www.eerie.com/

you should have a blast, especially your kid sister.

I had my birthday there with my wife and it was cool. Just don't be scared when the ghosts talk to you or insult you. All is interactive in there. The food is good, NOT all that per say, but ok.

    Happy Birthday.

Source(s): PS. get there early to beat the crowd. The line to get in can get pretty hectic, then you'll end up missing your show.
