new coffee shop ideas..?
I am a beginning entrepreneur and currently college student. Looking for new ideas/suggestions for a coffee shop/boutique
doing some prelim-research. see below..
The name of my company is called 'Unleash the ahh's'. It is a full service coffee shop with boutique. I am thinking that it will almost be like a little marketplace, with people selling their own peices of work/art within the shop. The cafe will also turn into a martini bar late at night. I need atleast 20 people to help me out with this survey. Hopefully one day I can turn this into an actual shop, but for now it will have to be virtual. :) Please let me know any insight you may have and what you may be interested in seeing.
1. Where do you live? Is it urban, suburban or rural?
2. Do you drink coffee, tea, smoothies, alcoholic beverages? If so, what?
3. How often a month do you go to a cafe? And which ones do you usually go to?
4. When you go, are you usually by yourself or with a group of friends? Do you sit

Sounds great! I'll take a large Mocha with Kahlua!
I live in the sub burbs.
I'm a coffee fan - just black, but I like good coffee.
I go to a coffee shop pretty much every day (Diedrich Coffee is my favorite haunt)
I usually go alone, before work.
The coffee shops I have always liked best had two things - great coffee (not burned black like Starbucks) and a great environment. I'm partial to Mahogany, brass, brick and a warm atmosphere. If you must play music, keep it down (I'm usually trying to read) and make it something generic that most people won't dislike. I know that's hard, but Starbucks likes to play this "edgy" crap that is so bloody annoying.
By the way, having a liquor license will really set you appart. Adding certain liquors to coffees will certainly set you appart from all the other shops.
Good luck with your project!

Good coffee, friendly service, free wifi, and an adults only room where no screaming children are allowed would be my ideal coffee shop (I have yet to find one with an adults only room) And I have one complaint a lot of the times the baristras(or whatever they're called) always talk to each other but they seem to yell I wish they would whisper

Hi, My answer to your questions above is Massachuetts. I drink both coffee and tea. I 've gone many times to a cafe. Usually by my self. I myself wouldn't want to see a darken room with just wood and steel accents. Color has alot to do with the mood of a person in a busy bussines wanting to relax. Music will either keep the customer there or drive them out. Keep the customer there will mean a second cup of coffee. If they stay 5 to 1 they may even take home a sandwich for later or for work.
Keep in mind that the percentage of DIABETICS that are out there. They/we are eager to sit at a cafe and enjoy like everyone else. 1.Fresh fruit you have how about adding Angle Food Cake.2.Sugar Free Apple,Blueberry etc..Pie w/Sugar Free Coolwhip?? Your Deli meats are fine w/ us Just something yummy is a treat for the Diabetics that would hear that your CAFE "IS SPECIAL ENOUGH THAT YOU ADVERTISE DIABETIC SPECIAL ITEMS. Remember to advertise the fact that you do have these items for them/me other wise how are we to know that your cafe has this "SPECIAL ITEMS FOR SPECIAL PEOPLE." All the Best in Your Cafe."

1. University town.
2. Yes, to all.
3. Daily.
4. Alone or in a small study group.
Location will probably determine your target audience. Comfy chairs etc. are good but people (like me) who sit for hours reading and writing rarely buy much so you'll need high prices or a bustling take out trade to complement. I'll pay more for internet connection, liquor in coffee, snacks that I can eat that go beyond pastries (e.g., coffee shop where I used to live that did a roaring trade in cocktails and tapas).

i totally think it's a great idea!! but you could expand to have fresh organic prepared foods like salads, sandwiches, etc. stuff that you could sit down and eat or grab n go. and at nite you could have live music with local bands that don't suck!!
