Question regarding Quaker parrot learning to talk.?

My Quaker parrot is 6 months old and says "Chow-chow" for a treat. Besides associating words with actions, do I need to work with one word or phrase at a time or just say various phrases frequently? Thank you for your time.

Update:

Dear Betty, do you teach one phrase at a time or several? Thanks.I just need clarification.

Mine says 'howdy', and more. I just talk to him regularly and he picks up on things. Like I say "can you boogie?" and I move my head back and forth and sing that "do the hustle", and hes just now picking up on it.He's about the same age as yours is. It just takes time, and alot of attention. Good luck!

I had a quaker but mom wanted to keep it. I love these birds because they tend to mock and speak some words, he even laughs and yells. Not like my sun conure doesnt even say a word and churps like a big parrot its awful! Anyway, I would start with small words and repetition is the key. Quakers like to socialize so take him/her out the cage and spend a lot of time with him/her. The more attention you give the more willing they are to learn. Good Luck!

Hummm, a three hundred and sixty 5 days and a half old? this is a hard cookie to interrupt and ultimate the biting. It looks like somebody else had the fowl and did not artwork with it while it replaced into youthful, or God forbid, the detrimental factor replaced into in a puppy keep that long without abode and family contributors to evaluate its very own! optimistically, you have not been duped into determining to purchase a non-handfed fowl which replaced into initially meant for breeding because of the fact if that's the case, whew, you got incorrect for a family contributors puppy. i might enable the fowl some adjustment time to get used to the recent environment and kinfolk - say a pair of week or 2 of basically gazing what is going on round her. If her wings are clipped, you could enable the cage door to stay open so as that she will come out and check out her "section" while she feels comfortable. If she isn't clipped i might have this performed quite quickly via an experienced puppy keep individual, veterinarian or fowl breeder. this type, you could start working along with her and she or he would be waiting to quickly be taught she might desire to count on you to stand up from the floor to her cage. opposite to what one individual wrote, please do not use gloves on the fowl on condition that this in undemanding terms serves to make your hand seem extra effective and extra menacing. quite, attempt a THICK kitchen towel or hand towel to start coping along with her, till you could instruct her to "step up" onto a perch or your finger on command. there are various informative coaching books and information superhighway web pages that it fairly is advisable to look for out for extra in intensity coaching ideas. there is basically too plenty to debate in this communicate board and you gets all forms of "own journey" solutions, some stable and a few not so stable, quite than professional solutions. stable luck and that i wish issues artwork out. basically keep any infant's hands out of attain of the BEAK - which jogs my memory, you're able to desire to call her Beakie Becky :-))
