problems with LG Burner?

i got this LG GSA-4160B burner from overstock for my computer and it came with the burner, a grey flat cord and that was it. after i got the other parts needed for it i installed it and it was working fine. after a couple of months though it stopped recognizing blank cds. i would put one in and usually it start up my nero software but now it doesn't do anything and when i try to burn a cd it keeps saying insert a blank cd, i do and then it says burner is not ready. i'm not sure what the problem is. i have the burner installed below my other cd drive, its in the slave position, it has power and has the little cord in the black port down on the motherboard. i've tried two different types of blank cds on it but they don't work. any solutions or maybe an online installation manual to download? i checked my nero info tool and it says that the system aspi isn't installed but that the nero one is, is that one of the problems? help would be greatly appreciated
