Why do some people find it exciting to cut their gums and make them bleed?

I have a couple of friends who cut their gums and claim that the feeling of bleeding gum is similar to orgasm, or they tend to brush their gums really hard in order to make them bleed. Sounds weird, doesn't it!! I would like to find out if someone heard about sth similar?

Wow, weird!  Personally, I have never heard of this.  It sounds like some sort of disorder or disease, can't remember the name of it...where you purposely hurt yourself.  These friends of yours need help!  They should also speak to a dentist about what they're doing.  I'm sure this can't be good, and may even have repercussions on their health later on in life.
