Pope Alexander VI, was rumored to be involved in several poison plots and many other nefarious acts during his reign as Pope. He also had an incestuous relationship with his daughter, Lucrezia Borgia, whose husband he had killed.

Quite an interesting family all in all. Are you familiar with the Borgia family? If you could look them up in the dictionary, they would be defined by wealth and corruption.

    Getting back to the question...

When an assassination attempt was made on pope John-Paul 2, in order to save the Pope's life about twelve inches of his intestine had to be removed, as it was too badly damaged to be saved.

According to Vatican law, ALL the physical parts of a Pope need to be buried together on his death.

so where any bodily parts removed from you or I would go up the chimney in the hospital incinerator, this length of Papal gut was seperately embalmed and buried with appropriate honours, awaiting the moment when the rest of the Pontiff chose to join it. (in the event, a nearly thirty year wait until the rest of the pope died last autumn)

The logic is the old Christian superstition about The Last Judgement, which in traditional theology is a time when bones are reassembled into skeletons and bodies reform at the sounding of the last trumpet in order to hear God's judgement.

At a time like this, the thinking goes, you cannot have a Pope with any bits missing or people will notice - this kind of thing gives a bad impression, apparently...

I have nothing about this pope, but I do a pope of the past. One of the Pope Johns was really a Pope Joan. When they found out they drug her through the streets. Not a happy death, to be sure, but a woman was indeed the Pope ( according to legend).

There's a myth that there was a female pope (pope Joan) who gave birth whilst taking part in a procession. Although the story's probably false i think there's still a street name in rome which refers to it.

The current Pope is a one time member of the Hitler Youth and the German crack commando group the SS, he apparently was not a keen member and demonstrated this by running away from the German army at the very end of the war by making his way towards the front line of the German and Russian war, which is a very interesting method of deserting.

I love Pope John Paul 2 and that is a FACT.

You could fill a large book with the subject of the Papacy. Ratzinger, the current Pope joined the Hitler youth, and was a member of a German anti-aircraft battery, before he joined the righteous and told others about the truth!

Dont know if this is true but following Pope Joan all popes sit on a chair & let their bits dangle down.

Some brave soul then grabs hold of his bits proving he is a man
