I had a DVT and am currently on coumadin. My husband and I want to get pregnant but I know that coumadin can?
cause birth defects. My question is how soon after going off coumadin is it safe to get pregnant without complications? I am no longer using birth control pills because of the DVT we are only using condoms, if I accidentally get pregnant, what all could happen? Just a little worried here, anyone with experience with this, please reply, Thank you in advance.

Coumadin can cross the placenta into your baby. Be careful and talk to your doctor (ob /gyn) about your concerns. Don't get pregnant until he/she says it's ok! good luck

Wayne gave you some very good advice! The absolute best thing you can do is call your Dr. If you don't want to go in for an office visit call and ask to speak to his nurse. She will be able to give you the best advice and if she thinks it best for you to come in and see the Dr she will get you in right away. Coumadin isn't something to mess with and for your and future baby's best health it would be to get pg with your Dr. help on this. Good luck!
