Windows 98 with DSL and Linksys router, LAN works, internet doesnt.?
Anyone have any idea why my linksys router would let the LAN work but not the internet? The connection works when directly connected to the modem, however internet connectivity gets lost in the router. This happens over and over again, after each time we "fix" it with linksys. We never actually do anything with linksys, just log into the setup page and save and it works... sometimes. This time it doesnt. Any ideas?

Probably need to reset your IP addresses.
Go to Start> Run> cmd> ipconfig /release
Turn off your computer and unplug your modem and router.
After 1 minute plug the modem in.
After the modem boots (about 1 min) plug the router in.
Wait one more minuter and turn your computer on.
Check you browser.

You may need to change the MTU in the router for PPPOE traffic, consult the DSL provider help page and I'm sure it will be in there.
