What is the latest element discovered/created on the periodic table?

    Element 118 was created a few weeks ago in lab experiments. Until formally named, it bears the title (based on Latin) ununoctium.

    A peculiarity of this is that it sits in the rightmost column of the periodic table, with a full valence shell of electrons, with the other noble gasses. If the half-life were long enough, it would likely be chemically inert.
